Senior Mining Engineer

About this job

Located in Vancouver, the Senior Mine Engineer is responsible for mine planning and for participating in the integration of mine plans into mining operations. This will be accomplished by by managing the long and short range planners, technicians/surveyors, engineers in training and administrative support personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares long range feasibility studies 
  • Coordinates the development of short and long range mine plans
  • Coordinates economic studies of mining methods and equipment utilization
  •  Liaises with mine operations department to integrate mine plans with operations activities
  •  Regularly analyses engineering section’s operating costs and identifies cost reduction opportunities
  • Generates monthly, quarterly and annual reports on engineering section’s performance and on mine performance
  • Recommends staffing requirements and participates in the hiring process


Qualifications

  • Degree in Mining Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience open pit mine engineering with at least 4 years in an operations supervisory role
  • Registered professional engineer Strong supervisory and team building skills Accomplished written, verbal and group presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office experience
